At Worcesters Primary School we believe that PSHE plays a fundamental part in our curriculum as we support children to obtain the knowledge and skills they need to manage their lives now and in the future.
Through PSHE we aim to promote healthy, independent and responsible members of society. We encourage all our pupils to play a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community through class, school councils and supporting nominated charities. Our pupils are given opportunities in PSHE lessons and assemblies to develop confidence, self-motivation and an understanding of their rights and responsibilities within our diverse society.
We encourage children to follow our school motto ‘Be the Best you can Be’ in order to reflect the high aspirations we have for our school community. At Worcesters, we promote our school values in order to provide inspiration for life-long learning.

PSHE is taught every week by the class teacher. We follow the The burning of pudding lane (year 2) medium term planning to ensure progression throughout the whole school. Here are some of the skills children will acquire throughout their time at Worcesters Primary School.

An aspect taught through PSHE lessons is anti-bullying. At Worcesters Primary School our aim is to develop a school ethos in which bullying is regarded as unacceptable. Children learn what bullying is and the impact it has on a person. We support pupils to understand that there are different forms of bullying for example cyber-bullying, prejudice-based bullying, race, sex, religion and belief, gender, transgender, sexual orientation and disability.

Sex and Relationship Education (SRE)
At Worcesters Primary School our aim is to teach pupils about the physical development of their bodies as they grow into adults. During their time at the school we will explore moral questions and dilemmas, relationship issues and the importance of family life. Our curriculum for PSHE is intended to act as a vehicle which teachers and parents can help children to understand more fully the world they live in and their responsibilities.
Sex and Relationship Education is delivered by the class teachers. We teach about the parts of the body and how these work and we explain to children what will happen to their bodies during puberty. The scheme forms a celebration of life, and seeks to develop an understanding of the complexities of human relationships.
Worcesters Primary School works closely with parents as we believe that children benefit from being giving consistent message about their changing bodies. Find our SRE policy here.
The children enjoyed learning about the British Values. Throughout the morning the children had the opportunity to vote for the charity of their choice and the money raised went to the one with the most votes.
Reception were fortunate to meet PC Doris. She spoke to the children about the police and what the police do in society to keep them safe. The children were very confident to ask PC Doris some questions.
