Your child may have a hot or cold school lunch or, if they prefer, bring their own packed lunch. We have a large kitchen and the school meals are cooked on site. The menu is planned for three weeks in advance and is written up each day. There is a choice of hot and cold food, with a daily salad and fruit bar. The selection caters for a range of dietary preferences and needs.
If you would like your child to have a school meal, please speak to the Office as we have a cashless system with money being paid either at a local shop or via a website and they will give you all the information you need.
If your child has a packed lunch, please provide a clearly labelled lunch box and put the drink in a plastic container (no glass bottles or fizzy drinks). As we have Healthy School Status and are committed to healthy eating we have a packed lunch policy which was compiled after consultation with parents & staff, as part of this policy we do not allow sweets.
Since September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 have been offered a free school meal at no cost to the parent or guardian. All you need to do is complete a Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) form available form the school office. We encourage all infant children to participate in free school meals as those provided by the Local Authority adhere to a strictly balanced Healthy Eating menu. This also saves you the job of preparing a packed lunch for your child everyday. The children enjoy the dining hall experience with their friends and often ‘picky eaters’ really improve their eating habits when dining with their friends and choosing their own food.
If you have a child in Year 3, 4, 5 or 6 and you are receiving Income based Job Seekers Allowance or Income Support from the D.H.S.S. your children are entitled to free school meals, so please ask for a form from the school office or the Education Department. If you are on Income Support, please register your children for a free school meal, even if you wish to provide your own.
