Joining our Nursery and Reception classes
Worcesters has a wonderful Nursery offering 60 places. We are able to admit a limited number of 30hr full-time nursery places provided parents are eligible, are registered with HMRC and can provide the school with the required code.
If your child was born between 1st September 2014 and 31st August 2015 you can apply for a Nursery class for September 2018. This will be the September before their 4th Birthday.
Part-time Nursery children are offered either mornings or afternoons. If a child attends our 30hr Nursery provision, the hours are 8.00am – 3.30pm; this includes breakfast club and a mid-morning and mid-afternoon snack. Parents will need to provide their child with a lunch. There is an additional charge for the full-time provision which is currently £50 per week.

Children usually attend the Nursery for a year before starting in a Reception class at Primary School.
Please remember if your child attends our Nursery you must apply for a Reception place in the same way as other applicants. There is not an automatic right to transfer from our Nursery to Reception. If your child was born between 1st September 2013 and 31st August 2014 you can apply for our Reception classes for September 2018.
From September 2012 Worcesters has been able to offer 90 Reception places. Our Early Years unit provides high quality provision for pupils starting Primary School. In Enfield children begin school during the academic year in which they become 5. The academic year begins in September. The place offered will be part-time to start with, beginning with a morning or afternoon session. The gradual start ensures your child happily settles into school life.

Mid Year Admissions
Pupils starting our school in the middle of a year will have an introductory meeting with the Headteacher and Parent Support Adviser. Parents are required to visit our school with their child as part of the admissions process. All new admissions are supported to ensure they are felt welcomed and make friends easily. Our learning mentor will monitor their transition and ensure they are well supported through our buddy system.
When your child is in year 6 you will be asked to choose a secondary school for their next stage of your child’s education. Parents will be given advice and support from us, as well as from the secondary schools and the Local Authority. The school will hold a meeting for all year 6 parents at the start of the autumn term to explain the application process and answer any questions. Our Parent Support Adviser is always willing to meet with parents to support them to complete the application process. The Enfield Schools Admission Service also organise information sessions which are detailed in the secondary transfer brochure.
The school will distribute a copy of the Secondary Transfer Brochure to all pupils in September but initial information is also given out in July to help you plan what you need to do at the beginning of the autumn term. You can also download the brochure from the Enfield Council’s website on www.enfield.gov.uk. The Enfield Admissions Service are also able to give advice or support with the application process either by telephone on 0208 379 5501 or in person during opening times.
The brochure provides details of Enfield’s 18 secondary schools together with information about the admission arrangements and how to apply for a place. Transfer to secondary school is an important step for both you and your child and we would advise you to gather as much information as possible to help you make the right decision when selecting which school to nominate on the application form.
All schools hold an open evening and many offer the opportunity to visit during the school day. It is important that you take the time to visit as many schools as possible. If your child has a statement of Special Educational Needs the arrangements for your child’s transfer will be different. The SEN Services Team will contact you directly to explain the process further. You should also arrange a meeting with the school’s Inclusion Manager to discuss the options available.
You can also apply online at http://www.edamissions.org.uk
If you want to appeal for a place as you have not been offered a place in a school you have chosen then please contact the school to make an appointment to see the Headteacher and Parent Support Adviser.
To prepare pupils for secondary school they will be offered a chance to visit their new school and teachers from feeder schools will come and meet their new pupil’s at Worcesters. We will also be running a number of sessions with our year 6 looking at changes and discussing concerns to ensure a smooth transition for all pupils.
The closing date for applications this year is Wednesday 31st October 2018.
Offers are made on 1st March 2019.
